With a "heads-up" from my buddy Jack Jakeman, and only a 1/2 hour to spare, I headed for Memphis to try and catch the K653 with CN power on it. That did'nt happen; but I did catch this at around 17:35.....I think they called it the K634......back-lit of course.........dang it! About an hour and a half later I did see the K653 though; from the Syracuse Chiefs baseball stadium!!! |

| Description: |
An eastbound ethanol train led by two Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern engines is tied down on the east end of the Belle Isle siding of CSX's Syracuse terminal-subdivision; right behind it (and out of view) on the same track is the K636 led by CEFX unit #1048. The train in the background on the left side of the frame is CSX's Q380, they're stopped on track 2 of the mainline at CP293. At 06:30 NF dispatch informed the Q380 that they would have a short hold here so that an eastbound Amtrak (280) could pass them and then they could procede as usual. I snapped this photo off at 07:30. So; they've been here for an hour or so, come to find out, because of signal/switch malfunctions. That has got to be very frustrating! |

This engine is the third of three powering the K633 today. Which segment, or variation, or balance of the K633 this train is I don't know. However, another K633 train came through the area yesterday, in fact about 15 hours earlier than this one did; I believe it was the K633-28, and it was led by CP 9620. I was chasing it but I could'nt get ahead to save my life. When I heard these guys calling this morning with instructions to take the siding at CP320, I was on the way! |

At around 16:30 hours yesterday, another K633 train came through Memphis, NY. I chased it, but could not get ahead of it to save my life. It was led by CP 9620, and I was hoppin' mad that I missed it! So, when I heard these guys calling signals with orders from dispatch to take the siding at CP320, I was immediately on my way! After a few hours passed, and a crew change, the train was back on the move. Seen here approaching track 1 of the mainline. |
