Title:  Notchin' it up!
Description:  Just as the Y111 was clearing CP285 we heard dispatch talking with a loaded grain train that was headed up to Fulton! This really suprised me, so I raced over to I-81 north and saw the G036 going through the wye. I stayed right on 81, to 481 and set-up for a shot north of Phoenix because I did'nt want to deal with the traffic in Liverpool and the village of Phoenix, and have them get by me. After waiting 30 minutes or so, something became apparently wrong, and here's what happened: the G036 stalled on the northbound grade up to Woodard. They likely had the crossings at Vine St and Old Liverpool Rd blocked for almost two full hours! Here we see four axle engine 6055 from the local B777 helping to get the heavy train moving again.

Description:  First time for me sighting a 4 axle HLCX engine. This engine is the sixth of seven engines on what I believe to be CSX train X78624; it's tied down on the so-called pocket track between CP 296 and CP 293 on CSX's Syracuse terminal-sub. The entire lash-up beginning with the lead unit is: (all CSX except the 4220) 5441, 7604, 7389, 8157, 6229, HLCX 4220, 8863.

Description:  With their work done here at Birds Eye, the crew is getting ready to head back to the small yard in Baldwinsville. This track used to go further north and into Oswego, but not anymore. You might notice in the background behind the train, that the road has been paved right over the tracks. In fact, the rail was never lifted, it's still there all the way to Oswego. You just have to look through the weeds and trees to find it. Also, at several crossings along the way, old cross-buck signals are still in place even though the road is paved over the tracks!

Description:  Barrelling southbound down the line towards Kellogg Rd. In the early 1980's the "TankTrain" used to travel on this trackage between the New York State fairgrounds and Oswego. I myself watched it pass by the fairgrounds, but I never saw it anywhere else on the line. If anyone out there has photos of it, please share!
